Overview
Factory Direct Blinds needed a homepage redesign delivered into their existing legacy theme codebase - without migrating to Shopify 2.0, which would have disrupted their heavily customised product builder. The challenge was integrating a modern Figma design while preserving existing functionality and keeping the site stable throughout.
Approach
- Rebuilt the homepage from Figma designs into a legacy theme without a 2.0 migration, preserving all existing customisations
- Architected a custom internal linking section using metafields, allowing the client to configure related collections per page without code changes
- Used Cursor to audit a heavily customised product builder, producing a clear technical scope for a future 2.0 migration
- Audited Shopify Plus feature usage to help the client decide to downgrade to standard, saving on subscription costs without losing functionality
- Scoped and estimated work throughout the engagement, communicating timelines directly with the business owner
Outcomes
Delivered a modernised homepage within the constraints of the existing codebase. The client was able to manage internal linking independently through the metafield configuration, and made an informed decision to downgrade from Shopify Plus based on the feature audit.
